The Damien Foundation in Rwanda
 |
In full flight
All the country's approximately 400 health structures cater for follow-up of sick persons undergoing treatment, but only 161 offer diagnostic services for TB. Implication of communities, which started in 3 districts in 2005, is spreading, the idea being to make it easier to have access to diagnosis and help patients to adhere to their treatment.
Technical adviser
Our doctor reinforces the PNILT team as technical adviser. She helps districts in order to assist them in obtaining a satisfactory level of quality. Our financial support helps with programme functioning and realisation of planned activities come true. The priority is training, supervision and assessment, together with awareness creation aiming the population at large and groups that are at risk. We supply the network of laboratories with the necessary reagents and diagnosis equipment, whereby we attach special importance to systematic quality control in the practice of bacilloscopy. Finally, we lend support to all activities aimed at combating leprosy in the country.
