The Damien Foundation in China
 |
Non-combined programmes
The fight against leprosy and tuberculosis is not combined in China. The cure rate for leprosy is excellent and for tuberculosis good. However, there is an enormous amount of work still to be done. It is essential that the whole population should be able to benefit from real access to quality health services, but this evolution is particularly difficult.
Fastest growth
It is not to be denied that the China project has experienced the fastest growth in recent years. Currently, it is among the Foundation's most important four projects. Overall, what the Foundation does is to concentrate on training supervision and monitoring. The idea is to improve the capacity of each medical team. The teams must be in a position to respond to the challenges that confront the programmes.
