Local personnel manage the whole of the National Tuberculosis Control Programme and encounter the same problems that other health programmes come up against in this country. Accessibility is low, which leads to health services not being used enough. On top of this, the government administration is sometimes the cause of delay in carrying out activities in the field.
Technical above all
The Damien Foundation has been active in Laos since 1994. Currently, our support is technical above all. It takes the shape of medical and management assistance because, since 2003, the programme has been enjoying considerable financial support from the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.
